Dewitt Falls is a Complex Ribbon Cascade measuring 9.8 metres (32 feet) in height and 2 metres (6 feet) in crest width. It experiences a powerful flow during peak storm events and the post-winter snow melt.
History
There is a pronounced sulphuric odour and colouration at the bottom third strata of Dewitt Falls. This may be due to natural gas that vents from the rock.
Dewitt Falls is featured on the poster “Waterfalls of Hamilton- Spring.”
How to get there
Dewitt Falls is located on the east side of Dewitt Road immediately south of the railway tracks and Dewitt Road (on the one-way section) goes up the escarpment. You can park on the Dewitt Road shoulder directly in front of the waterfall , making it the easiest Hamilton waterfall to visit.
