Hey folks, the City Of Waterfalls was reached out to by Councillor Whitehead’s office of Ward 8 with a couple of concerns they wished me to address and I think it’s fair to help out by bringing these concerns to our group.
First off, they have been receiving a lot more frequent complaints from the neighbours around Chedoke Falls. “Youths” have been climbing the sides of Chedoke Falls and this is a safety and a property concern. First off the sides of Chedoke Falls are unstable and a fall would be very dangerous. Secondly, the property at the top of the falls is privately owned …. climbing Chedoke brings you out into someone’s yard. PLEASE do not climb at Chedoke Falls. There was also mention of people swimming and diving / jumping into the plunge pool at Chedoke Falls – the water at Chedoke Falls is FAR from pristine and no one should be swimming / wading in it and diving into such water can be very dangerous if you were to bang your head on the bottom.
The second concern the brought forth was about open air fires / campfires / cooking fires being lit along the Bruce Trail – THESE ARE PROHIBITED. Please do NOT light fires. If you wish to BBQ it’s my understanding that it must be done with a propane BBQ and you must have a fire extinguisher with you – please contact the City Of Hamilton or the Hamilton Fire Department for more information.
Thanks,
Jay Poel – Lead Volunteer – City Of Waterfalls
